Continental reports record third quarter 1995 revenues and earnings.

CLARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 1995--Continental Waste Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: CONT) today announced earnings of $1,520,565 increasing by 79% from the $851,822 before extraordinary gain reported in the same period last year.

The company recorded revenues of $12,964,500, a 38% increase as compared to $9,373,043 of revenues reported for the prior year quarter. For the current quarter, earnings were $.22 per share compared to $.19 per share before extraordinary gain in 1994. In the third quarter of 1994, the company recorded a $356,720, or $.08 per share, net extraordinary gain on the early retirement of certain debt at a discount.

The 38% increase in revenue for the quarter is due to increases in revenue from acquisitions of 29% and same store growth of 9%.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 1995, the company recorded earnings of $3,858,463, an increase of 140% from the $1,609,924 before extraordinary gain recorded for the same period last year. The company recorded revenues of $33,442,798, a 75% increase as compared to $19,134,871 reported for the same period last year. For the current nine month period, earnings were $.55 per share compared to $.43 per share before extraordinary gain in 1994.

Continental provides integrated solid waste management services to approximately 175,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers concentrated in the Midwestern and Mid-South regions of the United States, in Costa Rica, and in Mexico. These services include non-hazardous landfill disposal, solid waste collection, and transfer station operations.

Continental currently owns and operates 8 landfills, 9 collection operations, 13 transfer stations, 3 recycling facilities, and employs over 750 persons. -0-
