Continental gains GM orders after Michelin ends contract. (Contracts, Licenses).Continental AG has gained additional business from General Motors as a result of rival tiremaker Michelin Michelin in full Compagnie Générale des Etablissments Michelin Leading French manufacturer of tires and other rubber products. It was founded in 1888 by the Michelin brothers, André (1853–1931) and Édouard (1859–1940), to ending its supply relationship with GM Europe General Motors Europe is responsible for the operation of GM businesses in Europe. GM Europe operates 11 production and assembly facilities in 8 countries and employs around 64,500 people. and Fiat SpA Fiat SpA International holding company and major Italian manufacturer of automobiles, trucks, and industrial vehicles and components. In 1899 Giovanni Agnelli (1866–1945) founded the firm that was incorporated as Fiat in 1906; he led the firm until his death. . It was not specified how many tires the German company supplies to GM or what the business is worth. Other tiremakers who currently supply GM Europe and Italy's Fiat auto unit through their purchasing joint venture also won some of Michelin's business with GM. GM Europe declined to name the other suppliers. |
