General Tire was founded in 1915 in Akron, Ohio by William F. O'Neil. In 1943 General Tire branched out from its core business by purchasing the Yankee Network and the radio stations slogan, ``Sooner or later you'll own Generals.'' The revival is part of Continental General Tire's 1995 advertising campaign, which was presented to dealers at the company's annual business conference last month. The new campaign features country superstar Willie Nelson Willie Nelson (born Willie Hugh Nelson, April 30, 1933) is an American entertainer and songwriter, born and raised in Abbott, Texas. He reached his greatest fame during the so-called "outlaw country" movement of the 1970s. singing a ``Generalized'' version of his hit song, ``On The Road Again,'' which is paired with his version of the ``Sooner or Later'' tagline. ``Choosing to bring back the `Sooner or Later' slogan was not difficult,'' says Joseph J. McCarthy, Continental General Tire's senior vice president of sales and marketing. ``Our market research indicated that today, nearly 25 years after the slogan was originally introduced, it still holds a lot of equity.
