Continental Airlines Unveils State-of-the-Art Aviation Facility in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL and CAL.A) on May 16 will open its new $92 million Concourse D at its Cleveland Hopkins International Airport hub.

"Our new concourse at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport brings increased comfort and convenience to our passengers," said Chairman and CEO Gordon Bethune. "Continental is committed to better serving the Cleveland community. From new London service to additional opportunity with this new state-of-the-art facility, Continental is growing with Cleveland."

Concourse D, a 160,000 square-foot facility, is connected to Concourse C, Continental's primary Cleveland hub facility, via an underground tunnel.

Amenities of the new concourse include moving walkways through the 800-foot connector tunnel and a light-filled glass pavilion. Retail stores and concessions also will be available to the public including News Connection, Home Turf Sports Bar, Pizza Hut and TCBY. Opening in June will be Jody Maroni's Sausage Kingdom and Great American Bagel Company.

"Cleveland's presence and prestige as a world class business and tourist destination has literally taken off with the official grand opening of Concourse D," said Cleveland Mayor Michael R. White. "Cleveland's ongoing development and expansion program coupled with Continental Airline's steadfast commitment exhibit our goal of providing first class service to air travelers both on the ground and in the skies."

The new concourse boasts as many as 12 gates for either larger Continental jets or regional jets and 24 turboprop loading positions. Continental has the ability to convert the 24 turboprop positions into 12 additional gates as need arises. The new facility eliminates shuttle bus transfers from gates to Continental Express flights.

The new concourse has the ability to accommodate a variety of Continental aircraft including Continental turboprop planes and regional jets as well as Continental's 128-seat Boeing 737.

In conjunction with a proposed new runway, the new facility will dramatically increase Cleveland's flight capabilities.

Bethune, President and COO Greg Brenneman and Continental Express President David Siegel will lead the official dedication of the new facility this evening, Thursday, May 13, at Concourse D.

In Cleveland, Continental and Continental Express operate 268 flights daily. Added service from Cleveland to London will begin June 30.
