California Lottery's "The Big Spin(R)" show airs Saturday, April 6, 2002, in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show win a total of $242,500.

Actress Beth Broderick Beth Alison Broderick (born February 24, 1959 is an American actress famous for her portrayal of the character Aunt Zelda in the television sitcom Sabrina, the Teenage Witch from 1996 through 2002.  presented Edwin Galan with the California Lottery's Hero in Education Award. Galan is a math teacher at Belmont High School Belmont High School may refer to:

Galan has been volunteering after school specifically at Belmont High School every day for over 10 years. He has been sharing his love of music with Belmont High's marching band Noun 1. marching band - a band that marches (as in a parade) and plays music at the same time

. He provides free music education to these students, helping them grow from beginning level musicians into competitive-level performers. He does all of this because he too was a student at Belmont High School, and this is his way of giving back to his school and his community.

Beth Broderick is an accomplished writer, director and actress who has starred in several television shows including The Five Mrs. Buchanans and Hearts of Fire. She has been on the big screen in such blockbusters as Bonfire of the Vanities and Fools Rush In. She is best known for her role as Aunt Zelda from the hit television show Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

The contestant that wins a chance to spin the prize wheel from the California Gold California Gold were an American soccer team, founded in 1998. California Gold is another way to get to the wheel on "The Big Spin" show. The game starts with 10 contestants whose Big Spin Scratchers(R) tickets each revealed three "TV SHOW" symbols on one ticket. When instructed, each player pushes down a "detonator detonator (dĕ`tənā'tər), type of explosive that reacts with great rapidity and is used to set off other, more inert explosives. Fulminate of mercury mixed with potassium chlorate is a commonly used detonator. " to reveal a prize ranging from $1,750 to $4,000. Two of those contestants will reveal gold nuggets a lump of gold as found in gold mining or digging; - called also a pepito.

 and advance to the second round of play. Once there, they compete to see who can get the closest to 10 units of "gold nuggets" in their mining car without going over. The winner of this round goes to "The Big Spin" prize wheel, while the other contestant wins $5,000.

The Fantasy 5 contestant appearing on this week's show is Eli Bryant Sr., a postal supervisor from Fremont. Bryant wins $75,000 and he explained his plans for this money, "I plan to use the money towards my retirement." Dream Machine players have up to five chances to launch one ball at a time into one of the five bins in the pinball-type game, each bin representing a cash amount. Prizes are cumulative, but only one ball may land in each bin to claim the prize amount. Players appearing on this segment qualify by mailing an entry form to the Lottery when $5 of Fantasy 5 games are purchased on one playslip.

The lone Spin-Spin-Spin contestant on this week's show is Larry Cheatham, a handyman from Stockton who wins $120,000. Cheatham explained, "I plan to use the money towards the purchase of a home."

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 19,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.7 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34.1 percent to public schools and 13.2 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.9 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $13 billion for public schools. The Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "The Big Spin(R)" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
