Consumers Vote "The Da Vinci Code" the Winner of the "Best Movie" in a Global Consumer Survey Courtesy of Philips.

ATLANTA -- Hollywood blockbuster "The Da Vinci Code" was voted as top choice for "Best Movie" of 2006 in a recent consumer survey. The study, carried out by Royal Philips Electronics, asked consumers across the globe to nominate who they would like to see take the number one film award. More than 80 percent of those who took part in an online poll voted the gripping storyline and spectacular effects of the "The Da Vinci Code" as their top movie choice.

Oscar[R]-winning actor Tom Hanks and international actress Audrey Tatou star in the movie favorite that came out on top in the U.S., Sweden, Germany, China, India, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Brazil and France, beating off competition from strong contenders including "Casino Royale," "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Babel."

Voters in San Francisco topped the U.S. poll with more than 30 percent of the overall votes, while Houston and Chicago came a close second with over 26 percent voting the fast-paced action thriller their favorite film.

The consumers voted off a list of award nominated entries and feature films which were nominated for an award, but did not win in previous years.
