Consumers New Jersey Breaks Ground to Extend Water Service to Beacon Hill and Allentown.

On Thursday, April 6, Consumers New Jersey Water Company's (CNJ CNJ College of New Jersey

) Central Division will begin construction on a nine-mile (46,000-foot) water main extension that will provide two developments in the Beacon Hill Bea·con Hill

Thursday's groundbreaking comes after seven years of negotiations, permits and approvals. During the two-month project, which is expected to be completed mid-June, CNJ will install 46,000 feet of eight-inch and 16 inch ductile iron Ductile iron, also called ductile cast iron or nodular cast iron, is a type of cast iron invented in 1943 by Keith Millis[1]. While most varieties of cast iron are brittle, ductile iron is much more ductile, as the name implies. ? main. Construction will take place weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning at County Route 526, from I-95 (Church Street) into Allentown Borough. Construction will then continue on Breza Road, New Road and Ellisdale Road in Upper Freehold Township.

"Our mission is to provide an ample supply of high quality water, reliable service and adequate fire protection to residents," said CNJ President Sharon Schulman. "In addition to meeting the demands of today's customers, we are planning for the future so we can maintain our level of quality for new customers coming to our area."

K. Hovnanian, a nationally known homebuilder, is developing the Beacon Hill project in Monmouth County. Through the main extension, CNJ will serve the "Heritage Green" and Four Seasons at Upper Freehold" sections of Beacon Hill. "Heritage Green" is an 86-unit, single family housing development and "Four Seasons" is a 387-unit adult community. Residents are expected to move in this fall.
