Consumer-driven health plans: they can offer relief to businesses feeling the squeeze of escalating health-care costs.


New options in consumer-driven health plans (CDHPs) offer some sustainable relief for employers squeezed by escalating health-care costs. These plans put health-care decision-making and economic purchasing power Purchasing Power

1. The value of a currency expressed in terms of the amount of goods or services that one unit of money can buy. Purchasing power is important because, all else being equal, inflation decreases the amount of goods or services you'd be able to purchase.

What is a consumer-driven health plan and how does it work?

* CDHPs are high-deductible health plans with deductibles of at least $1,000 and few or no co-payments.

How do I pick the right plan?
