CONSUMERS should be taxed on the energy they use in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint A carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted over the full life cycle of a product or service. , it was claimed yesterday.

Environmentalists said a carbon levy it is vital if Ireland wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
