) today announced it has completed a $68.5 million securitization Securitization

The notes, issued by CPS Auto Receivables Trust 2001-A, consist of two classes: $44.5 million of 4.37% Class A-1 notes, and $24 million of 5.28% Class A-2 notes.

The Class A-1 and A-2 notes, rated AAA/Aaa, were priced at par. The ratings provided by Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Services Moody's Investors Service

This transaction represents the first term securitization completed by Consumer Portfolio Services since the fourth quarter of 1998. Substantially all of the proceeds from the issuance of the notes have been used to reduce amounts outstanding under the company's Revolving Note Purchase Facility.
