YHI has hired 15 professionals with extensive backgrounds in the interiors industry in the past several months. The diverse backgrounds of the YHI team translate into a strong force in the interiors industry, with the ability to tackle the most challenging projects with both speed and quality.

"The interiors business holds the potential for substantial growth," said Colao. "This is a recession-resistant niche, because tenants need to have spaces built for them in good times and bad. In fact, 7 percent of space turns over even when the economy is depressed. The interiors business provides a hedge against a market downturn, because tenant's must adjust their space to accommodate both expansion and downsizing (1) Converting mainframe and mini-based systems to client/server LANs.

One of YHI's most recent accomplishments is the $8 million renovation and expansion of gallery space at the Whitney Museum of American Art Whitney Museum of American Art, in New York City, founded in 1930 by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. It was an outgrowth of the Whitney Studio (1914–18), the Whitney Studio Club (1918–28), and the Whitney Studio Galleries (1928–30). . Carved out of former offices on the fifth floor, the Whitney's new galleries increase the Museum's exhibition space by 33 percent. Designed by Gluckman Mayner, the new galleries are part of the most ambitious renovation and expansion undertaken since the Marcel Breuer-designed landmark building was opened in 1966. "The project included the capture of existing roof areas to be developed into quality museum space," explained Leonard Bass, managing director for YHI. "New skylights with environmental art protection qualities were installed, and the entire expanded space is now equipped with a state-of-the-art vapor barrier A vapor barrier (or more accurately, vapor retarder) is any material, typically a plastic or foil sheet, that resists passage of moisture through wall, ceiling and floor assemblies of buildings.  system to prevent humidity deterioration."
