Construction firm in talks over campus design.


BAM Bam (bäm), town (1996 pop. 70,100), Kerman prov., SE Iran, on the intermittent Bam River. Located on the western edge of the Dasht-e Lut, Bam is a trade center in a henna-growing region. Dates and other fruits are also grown; camels are raised.  Construction has been appointed by Sutton Coldfield College Sutton Coldfield College is further education college and specialist sixth form centre. Its main campus is in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England. It is one of the largest sixth form colleges in Britain.  as the preferred contractor for the first phase of its pounds 44 million Riverside Campus project in Perry Barr Perry Barr is an area in north Birmingham, England.

It is also a council constituency, managed by its own district committee. The constituency includes the smaller Perry Barr ward and the wards of Handsworth Wood, Lozells and East Handsworth, and Oscott.

The company is in negotiations with the college to discuss the design of the new campus which requires approval from the Learning and Skills Council before the project can go ahead in full.

Riverside, the site of a former dairy, will comprise 22,300 square metres and form a continuous spiral from four to six storeys with an external glass envelope.

The project, which also has a courtyard feature, is scheduled to begin on site next April and be completed at the end of 2010.

BAM Midland Construction director Richard Dakin said: "This would be a very significant win in the Midlands and builds on our strong reputation in Birmingham.

"Our team is looking forward to working closely with the college and we hope to have the opportunity of working on the Riverside Campus project, which is both exciting and innovative."
