The spirit of invention has been key for the hugely successful German decorative laminate manufacturer Dekodur
In 1846 Johann Ludwig AndrE[umlaut] bought a mill in Hirschhorn, Germany and founded the Saagewerk GebrE-der AndrE[umlaut] (Sawmill Brothers AndrE[umlaut]). By 1851 the first German veneer company was born out of this venture. In 1959, more than 100 years later, Marc-Anton AndrE[umlaut], sixth generation, puts in the foundation stone for an enterprise named Dekodur and starts producing the first decorative high pressure laminate -- soon to be followed by an innovation, which remains unsurpassed until today -- a high pressure laminate with a real-metal surface. In the 1980A[sup.3]s art is added to the product-range of Dekodur when a group of international artists begins to develop new techniques, new colours and eye-catching designs. Today the seventh generation is leading the enterprise with an aim of continuing to surprise its clients' by developing unique designs through unusual combinations of materials, or creating innovative structures. "The company has always created new markets with innovative technology and cutting edge design. Whether as the first veneer mill in Germany or as the inventor of the decorative laminate sheet with real metal coating, to name just two milestones," says Elli AndrE[umlaut] Decodur's marketing manager. At Index, the company will be introducing the region's buyers to its vast range of high-pressure laminates, which are currently in demand all over the world. "Today, where architecture and light continue to create an exciting new symbiosis, Dekodur offers laminates with multiple variations in design, material and colour -- which is the stuff that design dreams are made of!" says AndrE[umlaut].
