Consolo team leases SoHo spot.The leasing team of Faith Hope Consolo and Joseph Aquino of GarrickAug Associates, have arranged for the leasing of the new SoHo location for Gant U.S.A. at 77 Wooster Street, between Spring and Broome Streets. The lease term is fifteen years for 2,500 square feet of retail space. "Gant U.S.A. was the first .'designer label' in this country," explains Ms. Consolo, Vice Chairman. "The company was started by Bernard Gant, an emigre from the Ukraine, in the 1930s. In the beginning, the company sold its exquisitely made shirts to private labels such as J. Press and Brooks Brothers Brooks Brothers is the oldest surviving men's clothier in the United States, founded in 1818. The privately owned company is owned by Retail Brand Alliance, a spinoff of Luxottica, and is headquartered on Madison Avenue in New York City. . After the Second World War, the two Gant sons joined the company and began to manufacture under their own name. The first shirts were a fashion breakthrough: button-down collars and sportswear materials. Since then, Gant U.S.A., which offers the full range of sportswear, including eyewear, footwear, and fragrance, has always represented the best in American design." "Today, Gant U.S.A. is a global company, distributed in 40 countries via 120 free-standing stores as well as a number of selected retailers."
