The first shipment of concentrate is scheduled for the second week of November to the Dowa smelter in Japan. The mill is now running full-time and is operating at approximately 120 tons per day or 80% of design capacity. This rate is expected to increase to full capacity over the next two weeks as the system completes its run-in period. The commissioning is proceeding on schedule and the company has begun to introduce higher-grade ore of approximately 1.75 ounces of gold per ton into the system. The plant has shown steadily increasing recoveries since commissioning began with overall recoveries of approximately 80% during the month. The mine is projected to produce 58,000 ounces of gold and 500,000 pounds of copper during fiscal 1996 with a projected cash operating cost of $135 per ounce of gold. The mine will be operated on a year-round basis with 55 total employees.
