Consolidated Gold Hawk Resources Inc.: Additional Gold Zones Discovered on Barry-Souart Property.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 4, 1997--(Alberta Stock Exchange:CGK.) Consolidated Gold Hawk Resources Inc. is pleased to announce that gold has been encountered in six of seven holes recently completed on its wholly owned Barry-Souart property, approximately 90 km east of Quevillon in the Abitibi region of Quebec.

The goal of the drill program was to test the continuity and establish the orientation of the "Bart" Zone which was first discovered with a diamond drill intersection of 6.0 g/t Au over 6.7 m announced on August 15, 1997. The latest drilling has proven that the gold mineralization within the Bart Zone extends over a strike length of 250 m and determined that the zone trends east- west and dips 70 degrees to the south. The gold, often visible as fine specs, is related to fracture type quartz veining. A value of 114.9 g/t Au was obtained from one sample with prominent visible gold. The following drill intersections were obtained from the zone: -0-

- 23.8 g/t  Au over 4.4 m  (hole 9097-10, 170.4 - 174.8 m);
-  2.1 g/t  Au over 3.9 m  (hole 9097-11, 121.4 - 125.3 m).

The drilling also encountered a second set of zones that lie to the south, approximately 50 m into the hanging wall and parallel to the Bart Zone. The "Lisa" and "Homer" zones are spatially associated and occur on either side of a system of feldspar porphyry dykes. In some holes the two zones merge into a single broad, gold- enriched zone ("Lisa-Homer"). Significant gold intersections have been intersected within the Lisa-Homer system over a strike length of 300 m. The gold is related to shearing and brecciation, quartz veining and pyrite-pyrrhotite mineralization: -0-

- 0.8 g/t Au over 15.4 m "Lisa-Homer" (9097-06, 59.0 - 74.4 m);
- 1.2 g/t Au over  4.9 m "Lisa"       (9097-07, 32.2-37 m);
- 8.2 g/t Au over  2.6 m "Homer"      (9097-07, 58.9 - 61.5 m);
- 0.9 g/t Au over  5.8 m "Homer"      (9097-09, 156.7-162.5 m);
- 0.2 g/t Au over 19.7 m "Lisa-Homer" (9097-10, 105.8-125.5 m);
- 1.1 g/t Au over  1.1 m "Homer"      (9097-11, 87.8-88.9 m).

Finally, an entirely new zone was encountered 400 m south of the Bart, Lisa, and Homer area. The geophysical data suggests that this zone shares the same east-west orientation as the other zones. It consists of a fracture type quartz vein with visible gold:

- 11.0 g/t Au over 1.2 m (9097-12, 110.2-112.4 m). -0-

Gold values used in the weight average calculations were determined by the fire assay method using a one assay ton portion and checked by fire assay on a second one assay ton portion at Swastika Laboratories, an independent lab.

The zones all remain open in every direction and the company is preparing a follow-up program consisting of detailed geophysics and diamond drilling in order to extend the zones. The Barry-Souart property has been expanded by staking (89 claims) and option (45 claims) from the original 25 claims to a total of 159 claims (2544 ha). The additional claims are currently being evaluated for exploration.
