Consolidated Freightways Names Gary Murphy New Head of National Sales.

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 1999--

Gary J. Murphy has been named vice president of national sales for Consolidated Freightways (CF). The national sales organization at CF is responsible for serving customers with national and international distribution networks. Murphy will be based at CF's corporate headquarters in Menlo Park, Ca. and replaces Robert Morrey, who is retiring from the company.

Murphy joined CF in 1990 as an account manager in Portland, Oregon. He became a national sales executive in 1993 and has had responsibility for many of CF's largest national accounts. Before joining CF, Murphy held several operations and sales positions with Yellow Freight.

Last year Murphy was appointed to the new position of Director of Supply Chain Operations with responsibility for leading the sales force in building effective supply chain management solutions to meet customer requirements.

Murphy, 43, is a native of Kansas City, MO and received his BS from Kansas State in 1983 and his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 1996. He is relocating from Portland to the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two children.

Consolidated Freightways is a transportation company primarily providing less-than-truckload and logistics services throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico using its system of 350 terminals and 21,000 employees. The company also provides international freight services between the U.S. and more than 80 countries.
