THE Yardley Wood and District Midweek league's Consolation Cup Final was held on the Maggies Green, between West Midlands Police West Midlands Police is the Home Office police force responsible for policing the metropolitan county of West Midlands in England.

Stoke, who took the division two league title, must have fancied their chances of getting their hands on the Cup trophy.

However, it was not to be.

Charlie Wilkes gave them a fine start, grabbing eight shots off Kwak Chan.

The Police won with 14 shots to spare at the close.

In the 'B' Cup final, Tyseley, division four winners, faced Stoke Prior 'B' at Black Horse.

This proved to be a close affair.

John Bryan gave Tyseley a fine start, beating Rob Hall with 21-15.

Jim Cooper replied with eight shots off John Hayes.

Joe Woolsed nicked four shots off Martin Rothen for Stoke, but on came Phil Green with a fine 21-10 beating off Ken Simmonds to wrap up the tie for Tyseley by nine shots.

Over to the league, and a weather-postponed division one fixture between Kings Norton Ex-Service away at Black Horse.

Norton clinched the title, but only just, with a three-shot win.

Horse, without a victory all season, looked to have put that behind them finding five winners.

Best was Derek Shortland, 21-12 against Jim Lea. But in stepped Dan Bowater, beating Brian Shipway 21-10.

In another postponed fixture, Wythall won away at Hall Green. Peter Woolfendale had put the home side in charge with a fine 21-3 victory over George Lindsay.

But a 21-8 win by Ray Richards over David Flowers saw the visitors home by 12 shots.

Maggies beat Grasshopper grasshopper, name applied to almost 9,000 different species of singing, jumping insects in two families of the order Orthoptera. Grasshoppers are long, slender, winged insects with powerful hind legs and strong mandibles, or mouthparts, adapted for chewing.  at home by 22 shots to take the runnersup spot in division two. Hopper's Colin Moore had put the visitors in charge with his 21-8 beating of Gill Ingram. But Harvey Mitchell had other ideas as he stopped Harry Allbutt on six.
