Conseco Capital Management Names Johnston Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Client Service.

Conseco Capital Management, Inc. (CCM) has promoted D. Bruce Johnston to the newly created position of senior vice president - marketing, sales and client service.

Johnston's new responsibilities encompass both institutional and mutual fund investments, and he will continue reporting to president and chief executive officer, Maxwell E. Bublitz, CFA.

Johnston joined CCM in March of 1998 as vice president and director of marketing and sales for Conseco Fund Group (CFG), CCM's mutual fund family formed in late 1996.

During Johnston's tenure, CFG has instituted an innovative marketing approach, established its business infrastructure, created 16 regional sales teams and added more than 180 broker-dealer selling agreements. His focused programs have propelled mutual fund sales from $50 million to $1.5 billion and added more than 30,000 shareholders year-to-date. In February, Johnston was promoted to senior vice president of mutual fund marketing and sales.

Last March, Johnston was listed among Institutional Investor's 1999 Financial Services Leaders, and was named 1999 Fund Marketer of the Year by Fund Marketing Alert.

During his 23-year career, Johnston has produced and directed successful marketing and sales programs within the annuity, equity placement, mutual fund, private-client and institutional segments. A nationally recognized expert, he has been a recurring guest speaker on value-added marketing at the annual Institute for International Research's Premier National Forum.

Prior to joining CCM, Johnston helped Morgan Stanley move into the mutual fund arena as its national sales manager. He subsequently became national sales manager of Morgan Stanley/Van Kampen Capital Mutual Funds, following the merger of the two companies. He also has served as a regional sales vice president for Prudential Securities, Inc., and sales vice president with John Hancock Financial Services where he was named to the Dalbar All-American Sales Team. Before joining John Hancock, Johnston was a regional sales director and the top sales producer at Eden Financial Group, Inc.

A graduate of Eastern Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in sociology, Johnston is a NASD Registered Principal and holds NASD Series 6, 22, 26, 39 and 63 licenses.
