In addition, the company will match up to $1 million of employee and retiree contributions from around the world.

ConocoPhillips affiliates in the affected countries immediately began gathering both cash contributions and donations of clothing, food and other supplies, which are being distributed to local relief efforts.

"Everyone at ConocoPhillips is deeply saddened by the loss of life and damage resulting from this disaster," said Jim Mulva, chairman and chief executive officer. "We are fortunate that all of our employees in the area have been accounted for, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy."

ConocoPhillips has substantial operations in the Asian region. The company's facilities and operations were not affected.
