The 420-megawatt (MW) natural gas-fired cogeneration plant, owned by SRW Cogeneration Limited Partnership, is located at DuPont's (NYSE:DD) Sabine River Works facility in Orange County, Texas.

), each holding a 50 percent interest in the venture. Conoco was project manager for the construction of the facility, while Bechtel Energy Corp. was the engineering and construction contractor.

Conoco will supply natural gas to the cogeneration facility, building upon its long-standing relationship as DuPont's fuels supplier at Sabine River Works. Power marketing services for the facility will be managed by NRG Power Marketing Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minn.

A portion of the power and all the steam generated by the new plant will be sold to DuPont for use at Sabine River Works. The balance of electricity will flow onto Entergy's (NYSE:ETR) transmission facility and will be marketed throughout the Southeastern Reliability Council.

In addition to the SRW Cogeneration Limited Partnership facility, Conoco has interests in two other cogeneration plants, a 440-MW facility near Corpus Christi, Texas Corpus Christi is a coastal city and the county seat of Nueces CountyGR6 in the U.S. state of Texas. It is part of the region known as South Texas. , and a 225-MW plant close to the company's Lake Charles, La., refinery. Conoco's total North American power generation capacity exceeds 500 megawatts (MW).
