Conoco Announces Executive Management Changes.


HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1999--

:COCA) (NYSE:COCB) has made senior management changes to position Conoco for the future and guide the company's ambitious growth strategies.

In announcing the changes, Conoco Chairman, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Archie W. Dunham said, "The new Conoco management team will provide the leadership, resources and focus needed to meet our goal of doubling the enterprise value of Conoco to at least $30 billion by 2003, up from $15 billion in 1995."

Gary W. Edwards, formerly executive vice president, refining, marketing and transportation, is named senior executive vice president, corporate strategy and development. He becomes the principal advisor to the chairman and chief executive officer in implementing Conoco's growth strategy. Edwards is directly responsible for integrating corporate strategy, including all major merger and acquisition opportunities, and communications, information management, government affairs, external affairs and investor relations Investor relations

During his 36-year career with Conoco, Edwards has held a number of key management positions in the company in the areas of planning, natural gas and gas products, and refining and marketing in the U.S. and the U.K.

Jim W. Nokes, formerly president, refining and marketing - North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , is promoted to executive vice president, refining, marketing, supply and transportation. Nokes will become a member of the Conoco Management Committee.

Nokes has held a broad array of leadership assignments during his 29-year career with Conoco, including experience in Downstream marketing, pipeline and transportation operations; in natural gas and gas products; and in business development, as part of Upstream's Conoco (UK) Limited management in London.

Both Edwards and Nokes will report to Dunham.
