Conoco Again Tops API Safety Ranking.

The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , according to data compiled by the American Petroleum Institute The American Petroleum Institute, commonly referred to as API, is the main U.S. trade association for the oil and natural gas industry, representing about 400 corporations involved in production, refinement, distribution, and many other aspects of the industry.  (API) in its annual survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses in the Petroleum Industry.

"Conoco's total recordable injury rate of 0.6 injuries or illnesses per 100 employees in the United States is more than twice as safe as the average of all companies that reported safety statistics to the API last year," said Dennis Parker, vice president for Safety, Health and Environment.

This is the fifth year in a row -- and the 17th time in the past 23 years -- that Conoco has led its industry in employee safety.

"Conoco has reached this exceptional level of care because employees take personal accountability for their own safety and that of their co-workers," said Archie Dunham, Conoco chairman, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Conoco also ranked No. 1 in the API's third survey of the industry's safety performance outside the United States.
