Conner stated in its complaint that it has been awarded patents for power management technology covering a wide variety of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch disk drives. The power management technology covered by Conner patents significantly extends battery life in portable computing equipment and reduces power consumption and heat in desktop and workstation equipment without significantly reducing access and response time in computer operations. Conner asserted in its complaint that IBM's 2.5-inch disk drives and certain 3.5-inch disk drives infringe Conner's patents, as do products utilizing these disk drives. Conner seeks to bar the manufacture and distribution of such products within the United States and to recover damages for shipments of products that infringe its power management patent just issued.
