), today announced the Tape-Stor 8000, a complete QIC-3095 compatible Travan minicartridge tape backup Using magnetic tape for storing duplicate copies of hard disk files. Users can add an internal or external tape drive to their desktop computers for backup purposes, and files are typically copied to the tapes using a backup utility that updates on a periodic schedule.  system packaged for the retail market.

This new 8GB system provides high-end desktop users with the performance and capacity of alternative technologies at significantly less cost per megabyte, as well as industry-leading backward read capability with most floppy interface-based media formats.

Available with SCSI-2 or IDE interfaces options, this newest addition to Conner's Tape-Stor product family is available in internal and external models. The Tape-Stor 8000 operates with 3M's new wider, high capacity Travan TR-4 media and Sony's QIC-Wide media, and leads the industry in adopting the QIC-3095 TR-4 tape format.

The Tape-Stor 8000 minicartridge tape drive features backward read/write compatibility with the QIC-3080 format, and is backward read compatible with a wide range of tape media (see Compatibility Chart).
