Div2000.com uses technology to foster business relationships

Div2000.com is an Internet procurement service portal for supplier diversity. Its national database gives minority business owners the opportunity to build successful business relationships with larger corporations.

Launched in 1999, Div2000.com offers a business exchange for suppliers and buyers who are registered on its Website.

"It's a good way for minority firms to pull together and find opportunities nationally," says Kenton Clarke, president and CEO.

Through networking services, Div2000.com gives minority enterprises an opportunity to network with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, colleges, and universities.

In addition to networking opportunities, Div2000.com also provides a calendar of events, business news, bulletin boards, and certification information.

Floyd M. McCoy, president and CEO of KEDO Inc., a system design and consultant service in Weston, Connecticut, began using Div2000.com in early 2001. "It's like a one-stop shopping portal for contacts. I search the database for specific companies and various levels of contacts; and, as a result, I've been able to get a number of contracts. Anytime you have success--you have to like the service," says McCoy.

Anne Cameron, branch manager for Hi-Tec Associates Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia, a provider of technical and engineering contract personnel, described Div2000.com as an avenue to gather useful information. "Div2000 allows access to a wide array of corporations searching for products and services that our firm might offer. It serves as a networking vehicle for new business opportunities."
