Connecticut Rubber Group.

The Connecticut Rubber Group, in conjunction with Farrel, Crompton Uniroyal Chemical, Crompton Davis-Standard, Cober Electronics and R.T. Vanderbilt, will hold a symposium on "Mixing, extrusion and continuous vulcanization of elastomeric compounds," June 8-10 at The Courtyard by Marriott, Buckingham Square, Waterbury, CT. Symposium topics will include mixing and machinery for polymeric compounds; comparing tangential and intermesh mixers; principles of extrusion; Fan-el plant tour; compounds for continuous vulcanization; analysis of mixing cycles and procedures; preventing polymer degradation during mixing; formulating and mixing of EPDM compounds for CV; mixing and curing silicone compounds; operation/maintenance of mixing equipment; crosshead extrusion of rubber rollers; processing solid urethane and EDPM/silicone elastomers; principles of microwave curing; and a tour of an operational CV line. The course tee is $550. The tee includes a bound course curriculum, the R.T. Vanderbilt Handbook, first-time Rubber Division membership and some meals.
