Connecticut Internet Association Hosts Summer Beach Party for Hot Fairfield County "Dot Coms".

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2000

The Connecticut Internet Association is hosting a Summer Beach Party and attendees can register on-line at the CIA's website http://www.connecticutinternet.org. The event is August 10th from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Westin Hotel, One Stamford Place in Stamford. The party will be in an outdoor, air conditioned tent. Hors d'oeuvres, pina coladas, and a cash bar will be available. Abutting the tent is a beach volleyball court, for dot com company team competition. The Beach Party is open to any dot-com, dot-bam or Internet related vendor. Admission is $15 payable at the door.

"The Party is a celebration of Connecticut's booming Internet economy", said Mark Pruner, President of the CIA. "While many Internet companies in other areas of the country have suffered in past months due to the markets' downturn, most Connecticut Internet companies have continued to prosper, particularly in the burgeoning dot com corridor of Fairfield County, Connecticut," he said. With over 800 Internet companies in the Fairfield County area including giants like Priceline.com a good turn out is expected.

The beach party is the third event organized by the CIA, and its last event held June 13th at Norwalk Community College had over 180 people in attendance. At that event Mayor Frank Esposito gave a presentation on the rapid growth of Internet companies in Norwalk. William Schwab, President of Norwalk Community College, discussed the new Center for Information Technology being built at NCC. Bob Dorf, President of Peppers & Roger Group spoke on "Implementing 1 to 1 Strategy on your Website." And Harold Kramer, Vice President of Strategic Planning at CPTV, presented Silicon Parkway, and discussed digital TV convergence. The CIA's DSL Expediting group also met with Senator Bill Nickerson and representatives from SNET, Qwest, Totaltel, ATG, the Stamford E-Center, and Computronix.
