Connecticut Energy announces promotion.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1996-- Phyllis A. O'Brien was promoted to the position of group vice president of the Southern Connecticut Gas Company, a regulated subsidiary of Connecticut Energy Corp. (CNE-NYSE).

In her new position, O'Brien will have responsibility for Southern's general accounting, financial reporting, integrated resource planning and customer relations functions. She previously served as vice president, accounting & regulatory services.

O'Brien is treasurer of the New England Gas Association. She also is a trustee of the Connecticut Policy and Economic Council Inc., and is a member of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. O'Brien is a graduate of Sacred Heart University, holding a B.A. in psychology and an MBA in business administration. She has been with Southern since 1977.

Through its subsidiary, CNE Energy Services Group Inc., the company also provides an array of energy services to commercial and industrial customers throughout New England, from installation and maintenance of equipment to procurement of the most cost-effective energy commodity. The company also participates in a natural gas purchasing cooperative through another subsidiary, Connecticut Energy Development Corp.
