WHAT:   The Arizona Technology Council announces Roy Vallee, CEO
            of Avnet, as our featured speaker for the July 12
            Council Connect member forum.

    Hear Vallee talk about where Avnet has been and where the
    company is headed. He will also discuss:
    - Where the Arizona technology industry is going
    - What the technology community can do to further Arizona
    - His insights on what it takes to run a successful technology
      company
    - How Avnet stays competitive

    BIO:    Vallee began his career in electronics distribution in
            1971, when he joined Radio Products in Los Angeles.
            He worked his way up from stocking shelves to the shipping
            dock and eventually established a sales office for the
            company in San Diego.

            In 1977 he joined Hamilton/Avnet as a field sales
            representative. Through subsequent promotions he held
            positions such as systems business manager, general sales
            manager, general manager, regional director and vice
            president. He was recognized as Hamilton/Avnet's
            General Manager of the Year, and on two occasions,
            Regional Director of the Year.

            In 1989 Vallee was appointed president of Hamilton/Avnet
            Computer, and in 1990 was named senior vice president and
            director of Worldwide Electronics Operations for Avnet.

            He was elected to Avnet's board of directors in November
            1991, and in March 1992 was appointed president and chief
            operating officer. In November of that year he was
            appointed vice chairman. In July 1998, Vallee was named
            chairman of the board and chief executive officer
            of Avnet Inc.
