--Technology extends product functionality and creates new business

opportunities for manufacturers of data collection devices--

A new generation of data collection terminals will soon be sending and receiving data over the Internet, thanks to Connect One(TM), the leading provider of embedded Internet chips, hardware and Internet connectivity software solutions.

Data Corporation's and Force Field, Ltd.'s data collection terminals not only enhanced product functionality with Internet connectivity, but also inspired both companies to take their applications into completely new markets.

County Donegal (Irish: Contae Dhún na nGall) is a county in the northwest of Ireland. It is one of three counties in the province of Ulster that does not form part of Northern Ireland.
, Ireland, is a manufacturer of low-cost data logging (data) data logging - (data acquisition) Storing a series of measurements over time, usually from a sensor that converts a physical quantity such as temperature, pressure, relative humidity, light, resistance, current, power, speed, vibration into a voltage that is then converted  and control devices that capture, transmit, and remotely control the temperature of agri-business environments, such as greenhouses, chicken coops and hothouses. Connect One's iChip-based iModem(TM) provided Force Field with the means to offer their customers immediate Internet connectivity.

According to Dr. David Gray, managing director of Force Field, "Connect One's low-cost, off-the-shelf Internet connectivity solution not only empowered our connection to the Internet, but also enabled us to focus on our core strength, which is embedded controllers. As a result, we have identified a large number of other opportunities for our Internet data logging solutions, including environmental monitoring in museums and preventative maintenance for power plants."

Bartizan Data Systems of Yonkers, NY is the premier manufacturer of data collection terminals used for lead retrieval at tradeshows. Bartizan plans to make Internet connectivity a prime feature of its tradeshow sales lead management system. With iChip inside Bartizan's terminals, literature can be sent directly to leads as an e-mail attachment. Tradeshow exhibitors no longer have to print and ship expensive literature to trade shows, and attendees avoid having to carry bags of literature around an exhibit hall.

"I believe that iChip is a very significant development for Bartizan and for other companies who, like us, need to give their appliance-type products e-mail capability," said CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Lew Hoff. "The success of our lead management system, utilizing the iChip, has sparked our interest in developing Bartizan's technology for applications beyond tradeshows. Ideas on the drawing board include a Bartizan time and attendance terminal, equipped with iChip, to distribute data throughout an organization, and an iChip-equipped hospital data collection terminal that will make it technologically and economically practical to use Bartizan's relatively low-cost system to accomplish tasks now only possible using high-cost systems."

Internet Connectivity on a Chip:

Connect One's iChip Internet controller is a co-processor that mediates the connection between the Internet and a host device processor, enabling it to send and receive e-mail or Web pages. iChip includes up to 512 KB of on-board flash memory for storing and updating the Internet protocols. iModem is a family of compact embedded and stand-alone modems that supports data transfer rates from 2,400 baud baud (bôd, bōd), measure of the rate at which signals are transmitted over a telecommunications link. It is equivalent to the number of elements or pulses transmitted in one second, e.g.  through 56kbits per second and operates in both analog and Internet modes.
