ConnecTerra Announces New Release of RFTagAware.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna.  Infrastructure Software Broadens Support for the Rapid Development and Deployment of Enterprise-Scale RFID-Enabled Applications

ConnecTerra(R), a leading supplier of enterprise software for RFID and device computing, today announced its latest release of RFTagAware(TM) RFID infrastructure software for the rapid development and deployment of enterprise-scale RFID-enabled applications. This new release of RFTagAware includes a number of significant advancements for companies developing and deploying RFID solutions in response to retail and government mandates and for implementing a broad range of supply chain visibility applications.

New key features in this release include:

--.NET Development Support: .NET samples provide starting points for .NET development including VB.NET (Visual Basic .NET) An object-oriented programming language from Microsoft. It is the .NET version of the Visual Basic (VB) programming language. Like all .NET languages, VB.NET uses the Common Language Runtime (CLR) for program execution. VB.  & BizTalk development, and C# samples for reading and writing tags. RFTagAware provides a consistent programming and deployment environment across the three most popular enterprise environments, Windows, Linux, and Solaris. Both existing and emerging standards for application and RFID integration are supported.

--EPCglobal ALE 1.0 Specification Compliance: This release of RFTagAware provides full compliance with the current EPCglobal ALE (Application Level Events) 1.0 Specification. The RFTagAware implementation of the ALE API remains backward compatible Refers to hardware or software that is compatible with earlier versions of the product. Also called "downward compatible." Contrast with forward compatible.

--Reader Simulator Enhancements: 96-bit reading is now supported by the RFTagAware Reader Simulator, a standalone application that simulates an installed reader with antenna, providing developers with an easy to use tool for developing and debugging applications without requiring direct connectivity with deployed RFID readers.

--Expanded Hardware Support: RFTagAware continues to simplify customer deployment requirements by providing a broad range of support for RFID readers and printers. RFID hardware platforms Each hardware platform, or CPU family, has a unique machine language. All software presented to the computer for execution must be in the binary coded machine language of that CPU. Following is a list of the major hardware platforms in existence today. , SamSys, and ThingMagic and RFID printers from Avery, Printronix and Zebra.

RFTagAware continues to provide end user customers, ISVs, and system integrators with the most robust standards-based software infrastructure platform for the development of device applications and RFID solutions. With RFTagAware, organizations can extend awareness to RFID-tagged objects of all kinds, allowing them to quickly recognize the benefits of RFID with the flexibility for expansion as the number of tagged items, readers, RFID-enabled applications, and remote sites grow.
