Conlon on crime.

A gang of thieves reported in the Examiner yesterday have struck at least twice more at corner shops.

The gang of Eastern European people includes both men and women. They target small shops and newsagents.

They were thwarted in their bid to steal from the living quarters at Rawthorpe News at Bradley Mills Road, Rawthorpe, on Monday afternoon.

We think the same gang have since struck in Marsh and again at Deighton this week.

The men distract the shopkeeper while the women sneak into the living quarters looking for cash and jewellery.

The gang is thought to be using a B-registered red Vauxhall Vectra.

There are three men and around six women. The men wear sweaters and the women wear dark religious head coverings, but no veils.

Their ages rang from the early 20s up to 50.

During the Rawthorpe crime one of the women was carrying a baby.
