Conley exhibits host failover at Securities Industry Association Show.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1995--Conley Corp. will be featuring its SR-40 High-availability Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID) Storage Subsystem The part of a computer system that provides the storage. It includes the controller and disk drives. See storage system., a high performance RAID product for UNIX/Open Systems, at the Securities Industry Association (SIA) Show, June 28-30, at the New York Hilton Hotel. Configurable to suit a wide variety of high availability applications, the subsystem A unit or device that is part of a larger system. For example, a disk subsystem is a part of a computer system. A bus is a part of the computer. A subsystem usually refers to hardware, but it may be used to describe software. However, "module," "subroutine" and "component" are more typically used to describe parts of software. successfully incorporates performance, scalable capacity, data protection, reliability and low cost. Customer selectable features allow the subsystem to be tailored to specific application requirements, whether those demands are for the high data transfer rates of imaging and scientific applications or the high I/O rates of transaction processing--or any combination. At Booth No. 1111 of the SIA Show, Conley will demonstrate full fail-safe operations. Conley disk arrays have no single point of failure. Safety features such as, two hosts sharing the same array, and auto failover sensing data paths, controllers and host systems provides greater and additional support for maintaining continuous data access and protection for mission-critical environments. The SR-40 is a comprehensive, expandable RAID subsystem that supports multiple concurrent RAID groups in levels 0,1,0+1, 3 and 5 and can be configured with up to 8GB/RAID controller and the SR-40 offers up to 64 MB of battery-protected cache for high performance read and write operation, providing a level of performance that exceeds a standard array of disks. Drive failures are managed by the Conley subsystem without interrupting system use or service to users. By configuring the SR-40 with hot spare An extra disk drive in a RAID configuration that is ready and waiting to be put into action automatically when another drive fails. Using the RAID algorithms, the missing data from the faulty drive is reconstructed and written to the hot spare. When the bad drive is replaced, it then becomes the hot spare. If a hot spare is not used, then the faulty drive must be manually removed and replaced with a new one. See RAID and hot swap. drives, a designated drive will be automatically substituted for a failed drive and the data reconstructed on it without operator intervention. Physical replacement of failed storage modules takes only seconds, restoring the subsystem to its full availability status. The multiple hot spares of the SR-40 can be globally or individually assigned providing the utmost in continuous data availability, automatic dynamic data reconstruction and ease of module replacement. Dynamically replaceable disk drives, power supplies, fans, cache and controllers ensure high data availability Refers to the degree to which data can be instantly accessed. The term is mostly associated with service levels that are set up either by the internal IT organization or that may be guaranteed by a third party datacenter or storage provider. in the SR-40. These "hot pluggable" components are removed and replaced without interrupting operations and with no downtime. In booth No.1111 at the SIA Show, Conley will also demonstrate their RAID Utilities. With this unique tool, users easily navigate the system via a host computer by using mouse-selectable buttons and icons in a windowed workspace to quickly and simply configure the SR-40 and to obtain information in operations, performance, fault management and diagnostics.
