Conklin's FlexAccess 9000 System Breaks Traditional ADSL Deployment Barriers.Business Editors ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 18, 2004 With systems now installed in 20 different customer networks, the FlexAccess 9000 System is now generally available and breaking new ground in the field of ADSL See DSL. ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Range Extension. For customers including ACI ACI American Concrete Institute ACI Arch Coal Inc ACI Airports Council International (formerly Airport Associations Coordinating Council) ACI Automobile Club d'Italia ACI American Competitiveness Initiative , Cunningham Telephone, TTCI TTCI Total Time Count Indicator , Golden West, and many others not listed here due to confidentiality, the FlexAccess 9000 System is changing the way Service Providers think about suburban and rural ADSL deployments. Before this system, ADSL deployments were limited to a tight radius of 2 1/4 miles from the serving Central Office (12kft). Other range extension options exist, but have proven more costly and therefore less effective. The FlexAccess 9000 System allows Service Providers to economically extend the range of ADSL Service to 19 miles (over 100 kft) from the Central Office and uses the existing copper cable currently available in the majority of local access loops. "Our technology enables alignment with consumer demand," states Ian Meletios, Executive VP & COO for Conklin "We are beginning to see more deployments in areas further from the Central Office because it makes financial sense. Before, Service Providers were limited to where they could deploy ADSL economically. We've pushed those limits out even further, bringing nearly all remote customers within range." About the FlexAccess 9000 System The FlexAccess 9000 System provides up to 160 ADSL or 240 POTS circuits (or a combination) from the central office via multiple G.shdsl transports using existing copper pairs connected to span powered OSP (Online Service Provider) See online service. OSP - Optical Signal Processor subscriber terminals. The subscriber terminals convert the G.shdsl signal to standard ADSL and POTS circuits, allowing the use of standard ADSL CPEs and utilizing the existing wiring within and leading up to the customer premise.
