The Citizen-Board Member Branch has scheduled educational sessions, governance Governance makes decisions that define expectations, grant power, or verify performance. It consists either of a separate process or of a specific part of management or leadership processes. Sometimes people set up a government to administer these processes and systems.  meetings, an award luncheon, a tree-planting honoring local citizen volunteers and a social at NRPA's Congress and Exposition exposition or exhibition, term frequently applied to an organized public fair or display of industrial and artistic productions, designed usually to promote trade and to reflect cultural progress.  in Tampa. By supporting and educating our citizen advocates, the importance of parks and recreation will be spread to a wider audience.

The annual community tree-planting ceremony honoring Tampa volunteers will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tampa Performing Arts Complex. Following the general membership meeting, citizen advocates will gather for the C-BM welcome reception. On Saturday, from noon to 2:00 p.m., the C-BM branch will honor award recipients with the C-BM National Awards Luncheon (ticket required). C-BM members will have a photo opportunity with NRPA NRPA National Recreation and Park Association
NRPA Natural Resources Protective Association (Staten Island, NY)
NRPA Niagara Regional Police Association (Canada)
NRPA National Rifle and Pistol Association
 leadership from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The C-BM Information and Hospitality Booth at the convention center is open all week and is the perfect place to learn about citizen issues. There are a wide variety of educational sessions for citizens, such as Pre Congress Institute, "Organizational Governance Institute" held Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. On Wednesday, check out "Top Ten Public Relation Tips" and "I'm On A Board, Now What?" Start the day with "Got Friends? Partners in Parks and Recreation," and continue the day with "Grassroots Advocacy: Be Involved," "Citizens- Understanding the Benefits of Parks and Recreation," "Commissioners/Board Members-Roundtable Discussions" and "Public Meetings: People and Problem Solving problem solving

." Two sessions for Friday include "Building Effective Citizen Advocates" and "Strategic Thinking For A Successful Voter VOTER. One entitled to a vote; an elector.  Referendum referendum, referral of proposed laws or constitutional amendments to the electorate for final approval. This direct form of legislation, along with the initiative, was known in Greece and other early democracies. ." Sessions for Saturday include "Running A Meeting: It's More Than Robert's Rules" and "Citizen Advisory Council for the Arts." These sessions will provide valuable information and insight for you to take back to your community.
