Martin Edelston, Leon Henry, and Ed Burnett--all well-known to newsletter publishers and marketers--who were unofficially nominated to the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame.

The by-popular-demand nominations flooded into the office of Tad (Telephone Answering Device) An answering machine.  Clarke, editor in chief of DM News, after he questioned one of DMA's only two choices of inductees this year--that of Benjamin Franklin, who died in 1790.

Recommending Ben Franklin was the fact that he formulated the mail-order concept when he produced the first catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library.
