It was decided that the NCP would contest 112 seats, while the Congress will take the lion's share of 176 seats in the 288- seat assembly, Congress sources said.

Senior Congress leaders said details of the arrangement would be disclosed during Sonia's visit to Mumbai on Monday.

Sources said the Congress may decide to leave a few seats for the RPI's Prakash Ambedkar faction, but no concrete decision was taken on Sunday.

NCP leaders seemed to be satisfied with the outcome as the Congress was initially willing to leave about 100 seats for its junior partner. The Congress wanted to reduce the number of seats for Sharad Pawar's party citing its poor performance in the May Lok Sabha polls.
