Confirma Announces Expanded Breast MRI Capabilities for CADstream(TM).

SEATTLE -- Confirma, Inc.:

--Expanded Capabilities Include Features and Products for Instant Prior Study Recall, Morphology Characterization, Intervention and Stand-Alone Diagnostic Interpretation

--Confirma is Showcasing CADstream at the 2006 ISMRM ISMRM International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine  Meeting in Seattle

Confirma, Inc., the market leader in computer-aided-detection (CAD) for MRI 1. (application) MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

, today announced that it is showcasing its innovative expanded capabilities for CADstream, the standard in CAD for breast MRI, at the 2006 ISMRM Scientific Meeting currently underway at the Washington Convention Center The Washington Convention Center has been the name of two convention centers in Washington, D.C. The old Washington Convention Center was located at 909 H Street NW and was in use from 1983 until 2004.  in Seattle. These expanded capabilities include advanced features and products that further differentiate CADstream as the leader in a rapidly growing marketplace. Advanced features include Morphology Characterization through CADstream's volume analysis tool and SureLoc(TM), CADstream's interventional guidance tool. Expanded products include CADalog(TM) for instant prior study recall, SureLoc-C(TM) for dedicated interventional guidance in the MRI suite and CADstream-C(TM) for dedicated diagnostic interpretation at a single-reader breast MRI reading console.

"Our goal is to advance breast MRI, ultimately improving breast cancer detection," said Wayne Wager, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Confirma. "These expanded features and products for CADstream continue our commitment to listening to the radiology community, and strategically developing features and products to help customers build more efficient and standardized breast MRI programs. With hundreds of CADstream systems integrated in women's imaging programs, we plan to continue to exceed the market's needs."

Advanced Features

Morphology Characterization

  • The American College in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India
  • The American College of the Immaculate Conception, Leuven (also known as Louvain), Belgium
of Radiology's BI-RADS(R) Atlas for breast MRI advocates that physicians report both kinetic and morphologic information for lesions identified in a breast MRI study. The ability to more confidently report the shape and margin of a lesion has been requested by many Confirma customers. CADstream's morphological feature helps physicians determine the shape of a 3-dimensional lesion by looking at the margins of that lesion in relation to an automatically-placed elliptical el·lip·tic   or el·lip·ti·cal

SureLoc, CADstream's interventional guidance tool

SureLoc is now compatible with all interventional guidance methods and equipment, and includes an instant processing algorithm with needle insertion path, subtractions and uptake maps available immediately. SureLoc calculates needle position and insertion coordinates in real-time and supports angled needle access and medial, lateral and cranial-caudal approaches.

Expanded Products

CADalog

CADalog provides instant recall of a patient's prior studies through CADalyst(TM), CADstream's network-based user interface. Using CADalyst, radiologists can access and view a patient's prior study next to a current study, providing on-demand study comparison. Additionally, CADalyst can be used as a library for teaching studies. CADalog is available as a software-only package or as a software/hardware package.

SureLoc-C

SureLoc-C is a dedicated console A dedicated console is a video game console that is dedicated to a built in game or games, and is not equipped for additional games, via cartridges or other media. History
Most of the earliest home video game systems were dedicated consoles, most popularly Pong
for real-time interventional guidance. Residing in the MRI suite, interventional studies are sent to SureLoc, where the physician targets the lesion(s) and an automated target report is quickly generated and used at the point of procedure.

CADstream-C

While CADstream continues to advance as a network-based solution, CADstream is now available as a dedicated console for breast MRI interpretation called CADstream-C. This system configuration has been designed specifically for early breast MRI programs needing a single breast MRI reading console. CADstream-C provides an economical workflow and efficiency tool for customers with lower study volumes.

About CADstream

CADstream is advancing breast MRI by enhancing efficiency, standardization, access and compatibility of studies. The system automates analysis, reporting and interventional planning of studies and promotes standardization with the incorporation of the ACR See riser card.  BI-RADS(R) Atlas. CADstream is designed for any workflow scenario, integrating with existing equipment and providing access to studies anywhere on the network. Automated features include adaptive image registration (2D/3D), multiplanar reformatting, subtractions, angiogenesis angiogenesis /an·gio·gen·e·sis/ (-jen´e-sis) vasculogenesis; development of blood vessels either in the embryo or in the form of neovascularization or revascularization.

Products include CADalog(TM) for study library access, SureLoc-C for a dedicated interventional guidance in the MRI suite and CADstream-C for dedicated diagnostic interpretation at a single-reader breast MRI reading console.

About Confirma, Inc.

Confirma, Inc. develops and markets computer-aided-detection (CAD) systems and accessories for medical imaging. CADstream(TM) is the standard in CAD for magnetic resonance imaging magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), noninvasive diagnostic technique that uses nuclear magnetic resonance to produce cross-sectional images of organs and other internal body structures.  (MRI). CADstream automates the processing of MRI studies, providing higher quality imaging studies, lower costs for radiology practices and improved communication tools for physicians and patients. In its initial application, CADstream is being used to assist in the analysis, interventional guidance and reporting of breast MRI studies. CADstream is DICOM (medical, standard) DICOM - (From Digital Imaging and COmmunications in Medicine) A standard developed by ACR-NEMA (American College of Radiology - National Electrical Manufacturer's Association) for communications between medical imaging devices.  3.0 compliant, allowing integration with any MRI scanner and PACS (Picture ArChiving System) A storage and management system for high-resolution images.
