Conference on vocational training opens in Amman tomorrow.

Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra)--A conference on e-learning entitled "Challenges of Technical and Vocational Training in the Arab World and Innovation Through E-learning," starts in Amman tomorrow with the participation of Labour Minister Ghazi Shbeikat. The minister said that the conference will provide an opportunity for decision makers in the public and private sectors to look into issues pertaining to technical and vocational training, e-learning and the exchange of expertise and data on e-learning in the vocational field. "The technical and vocational training in the Near East is heading toward reform and substantial changes and this requires developing new tools and methods to improve quality of technical and vocational training," Shbeikat added. He also highlighted major aspects to improve quality based on continued training of teachers to deal with the accelerating change in technology. "E-learning in Jordan is progressing as it is the case in industrial countries and e-learning forms a quantum leap in technical and vocational training," the minister said. The three-day conference in organized by the German InWent in cooperation with the Labour Ministry, Vocational Training Corporation, the National Center for Human Resources Development, European Vocational Training Corporation, the UNESCO and the Vocational Training Department in Egypt. The main objectives of the conference, which will be attended by Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Tunisia and Germany, are the promotion and dissemination of innovative methods and instruments for teacher training and the facilitation of the application of e-learning.
