Conference on Prophet Mohammad''s companions pleads for Muslim unity.KUWAIT, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- The conference that tackled the legacy of the companions of the Prophet Companions of the Prophet Arabic Sahaba or Ashab Followers of Muhammad who had personal contact with him, including any Muslim contemporary who saw him. As eyewitnesses, they are the most important sources of Hadith. Mohammad, peace be upon him, urged unity of the Islamic world and shunning differences among Muslims of the world. In the conference's last session held Wednesday, participants called upon ministries of awqaf and Islamic institutions to organize activities that help boost solidarity among Muslims inspired by the history of the prophet's companions and their legacy and policies. They also called for respecting the other and respecting the virtues dictated by the Islamic heritage in the Holy Quran and the legacy of the Prophet Mohammad and his companions which stress dialogue and co-existence. It is important to show respect for the prophet and his companions they said, and called for avoiding bigotry while encouraging rational dialogue. This respect would be translated and given life through emulating the wise policies of the forefathers forefathers npl → antepasados mpl forefathers npl → ancêtres mpl forefathers npl → Vorfahren and older Muslims, they said. These values ought to be given stress through educational curricula, media programs, and conferences that tackle the history of the prophet's family and companions, they also said. The conference encouraged supporting and funding projects that relate to the conference objectives, along with establishing an executive committee grouping the bodies that would work on implementation of the recommendations.
