Conference on Iraqi constitution amendments.

Germany will host a broad-based conference later this month to discuss the controversies facing the amendment of the Iraqi permanent constitution.

A Kurdish lawmaker in the Iraqi parliament said Sunday that the six-day conference will be held on 26-31 October in the city of Heidelberg in Germany to discuss the obstacles hindering hin·der 1

Azad Omer Bamarni told al Sabah Newspaper in Baghdad that Iraqi lawmakers, head of parliamentary blocs and international experts will attend the event.

One major goal of the event will be finding a formula to be accepted by all Iraqi components so that it is passed by the Iraqi parliament.

Iraq's constitution was adopted by a majority in a fair vote during the 15 October 2005 referendum referendum, referral of proposed laws or constitutional amendments to the electorate for final approval. This direct form of legislation, along with the initiative, was known in Greece and other early democracies. .
