Designed for wireless devices such as cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and mobile computers, the combined solutions will be targeted for applications that need short-range mobile data access along with robust performance and low power consumption.

Commencing in the fourth calendar quarter of this year, Conexant will deliver the first product of what will be a wide array of Bluetooth solutions to meet specific market segment requirements for performance, cost and integration. Based on Philsar's RF leadership and Conexant's broad communications portfolio and systems design expertise, the Bluetooth offering will include a family of radio components, a variety of single- and two-chip system solutions and a complete software protocol stack The set of protocols used in a communications network. A protocol stack is a prescribed hierarchy of software layers, starting from the application layer at the top (the source of the data being sent) to the data link layer at the bottom (transmitting the bits on the wire).  including application profiles. The combined solutions will offer manufacturers a consistent development environment, low bill-of-materials and manufacturing costs, and provide the autonomy, ease-of-use and affordability which consumers need in personal wireless connectivity applications.

"Bluetooth technology is poised to become a key standard for personal area networks of the future, and we plan to take a unique approach to the Bluetooth market," said Moiz Beguwala, senior vice president and general manager, Conexant Systems Inc. Wireless Communications wireless communications
