Reference Design to Enable New Class of Interactive Television

Services for SkyLife Customers

Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for communications applications, and Alticast, a pioneer in the field of interactive digital TV software development, today announced that the companies have joined forces to deliver a complete Digital Video Broadcasting-Multimedia Home Platform (DVB-MHP) set-top box design.

In addition, the Conexant/Alticast solution has been chosen by Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting's new SkyLife interactive digital television service. SkyLife's iTV service will be launched at the 2002 World Cup games held in Korea and Japan.

The reference design includes Conexant's complete satellite set-top box chipset solution and Alticast's Alticaptor(TM) DVB-MHP software. Conexant's satellite solution includes the CX24108 satellite silicon tuner, the CX24110 1-45 Msps satellite QPSK demodulator, the CX22496 integrated set-top box MPEG processor and Conexant's SmartMDP V.90 dial-up modem chipset. Evaluation systems running on the Conexant satellite reference design will begin shipping this calendar quarter.
