"The CX82320 builds on our heritage in ADSL modem products, and provides our customers with a feature-rich, reliable and low cost, single-chip solution," said Chee Kwan, vice president of broadband products for Conexant's Broadband Communications Division. "Our solution not only gives manufacturers the flexibility they need to quickly design products for a growing marketplace, but provides a reduced-cost solution that will bring the expanded functionality required for mainstream adoption."

Using integrated products designed around a single-chip solution is one way service providers can address large markets more cost-effectively," said Patrick Hurley, DSL analyst for TeleChoice, Inc., a strategic catalyst firm headquartered in Tulsa, OK. "Vendors like Conexant who can offer a highly integrated single-chip USB ADSL modem product help give service providers the low cost customer premise equipment solutions that they need to expand their DSL services worldwide."

Technical Details

The CX82320 is the newest member of Conexant's AccessRunner(R) family of ADSL modems. It integrates all of the hardware functions of a USB controller, ADSL discrete multi-tone (DMT See DSL. ) engine, analog front end (AFE (Apple File Exchange) An earlier Macintosh utility that converted data files between Mac and PC formats. It also included a file translator between IBM's DCA format and MacWrite. ), and line driver to create a complete ADSL modem on a single chip.

The CX82320 is built upon a scalable architecture and is fully compliant with both the full-rate ADSL (T1.413 Issue 2 and G.dmt standards) and splitterless G.lite including Annex A (ADSL over POTS) and Annex B (ADSL over ISDN ISDN
