Conexant Receives Type Approval for Industry's First Complete Dual-band System Solution for GSM Digital Cellular Handsets; Samsung Announced as Lead Customer.

Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT), announced today that it has earned full type approval for a complete dual-band system solution for Global System for Mobile Communications (communications) Global System for Mobile Communications - (GSM, originally "Groupe de travail Sp?ciale pour les services Mobiles") One of the major standards for digital cellular communications, in use in over 60 countries and serving over one billion subscribers.  (GSM) digital cellular handsets.

Until now, most GSM handset manufacturers have had to source components and software from multiple vendors, creating difficult system-integration and time-to-market challenges. Conexant's offering will be the first of its kind to provide digital cellular phone manufacturers with a comprehensive antenna-to-microphone solution from a single supplier to support both the 900MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  and 1800MHz GSM communications bands.

The rigorous type-approval process ensures that Conexant's solution will be compatible with GSM networks throughout the world.
