Conexant Elects Balakrishnan S. Iyer to Board of Directors; Company's Chief Financial Officer Assumes Newly Established Seat.

Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for communications applications, today announced that Balakrishnan S. Iyer, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Conexant, has been elected to a newly established seat on the company's board of directors.

"This appointment is an acknowledgement of the outstanding contributions he has made to Conexant since joining the company as we were preparing to separate from Rockwell in 1998.

Iyer has served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Conexant since December 1998, and played an integral role in the spin-off of Conexant from Rockwell. He is also now acting as the chief financial officer of Mindspeed, and will help guide its upcoming separation from Conexant. Iyer is expected to join Mindspeed's board of directors and become its chief financial officer when it becomes a separate, publicly traded company and will retain his seat on the Conexant board. He is also a board member of Invitrogen Corp. (Nasdaq:IVGN).

Previously, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of VLSI Technology VLSI Technology, Inc was a company which designed and manufactured custom and semi-custom ICs.
