Conexant's Set-Top Box Technology Powers Humax LCD TV with Integrated DIRECTV Receiver; New LCD TV Enables DIRECTV Subscribers to Extend In-Home Viewing Venues.

(NASDAQ:CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that Humax, a leading international manufacturer of digital satellite set-top boxes (STBs), has incorporated Conexant's satellite STB system solution in a new liquid crystal display television (LCD TV) with an integrated DIRECTV(R) receiver. Humax's LD2060 enables subscribers to access DIRECTV programming through a simple "plug-and-play" coaxial cable instead of a separate STB. The 20-inch LD2060 is targeted primarily at subscribers who want to add a TV in areas with limited space such as the kitchen, bedroom, or home office. It is being manufactured in volume quantities now, and will be available to DIRECTV subscribers in the United States.

The LD2060 has a screen that is large enough for subscribers to easily view over 250 channels of DIRECTV programming, yet small enough to fit in tight spaces on the kitchen counter, mount under a cabinet, or use in other space-constrained areas. Conexant's single-chip CX24155 integrates major subsystems that are required to implement the core system and decoder electronics of a broadcast satellite TV STB. To complete the LD2060 design, Humax also used Conexant's CX24109 front-end satellite tuner. Together, these devices reduced the total number of components, and corresponding board space, that Humax required to develop their new compact, fully functional LCD TV. The high level of integration also enables manufacturers to reduce overall system costs and design time.
