Conde Nast Acquires Majority Interest in Spanish-Language Magazine Publishing Company, Ideas Publishing Group.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2001

The Conde Nast Publications, Inc., has acquired a majority interest in Ideas Publishing Group, the Miami-based publisher of Spanish-language editions of major American magazines The American Magazine was a periodical publication founded in June of 1906, stemming from failed publications purchased a few years earlier from publishing mogul Miriam Leslie. , it was announced today by S.I. Newhouse, Jr., Chairman of Conde Nast and Mario A. Freude, I.P.G.'s Chairman and C.E.O.

"Working in partnership with I.P.G. as a publisher and a distributor will allow us to expand our presence in the expanding Latin American marketplace," Mr. Newhouse said.

"Conde Nast's marketing and operations expertise in publishing, coupled with our specialized knowledge of the Latin American markets, will enhance I.P.G.'s position as a global leader in Spanish-language publishing," Mr. Freude said.

The Ideas Publishing Group currently publishes nine titles, three in collaboration with Conde Nast - Vogue en Espanol, Glamour en Espanol, and Architectural Digest Architectural Digest is a glossy American monthly magazine. Its principle subject is interior design, not -- as the name of the magazine might suggest -- architecture more generally. The magazine is published by Condé Nast Publications and was founded in 1920 [1].  en Espanol -- and six others -- Newsweek en Espanol, Discover en Espanol, Teen en Espanol, Prevention en Espanol, Motor Trend en Espanol, and Men's Fitness Men’s Fitness is a men’s magazine published by American Media, Inc. Founded in the United States in 1987, it was originally called Sports Fitness. The premier issue featured Michael Pare from the television show, The Greatest American Hero.  en Espanol. These magazines are published under licensing arrangements, with The Washington Post Company, Weider Publications, Inc., Rodale Press Inc., Emap USA, and Disney Magazine Publishing Inc.
