Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR), the pioneer and leader in North American commercial Video-On-Demand (VOD) deployments, today announced its planned demonstrations for the upcoming Cable 2002 Show, May 6-8, in New Orleans, La. At the show, Concurrent plans to demonstrate Subscription VOD (SVOD), Targeted and Interactive Advertising, and virtual channels. All of the applications are based on Concurrent's MediaHawk(R) Model 3000 Broadband VOD technology.

At the show, Concurrent will highlight the value and versatility that SVOD is bringing to the broadband industry, emphasizing the trend in technology to cater to the consumer's demand for convenience, choice, and control. Visitors to Cable 2002 will see the Concurrent-enabled SVOD services similar to the ones already deployed in a number of cable markets by the leading cable operators in North America. The SVOD demonstrations will highlight content from Starz Encore, HBO, and Showtime.

Interactive and Targeted Advertising

Emphasizing the importance of flexibility and the strategic value of Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD server platform and in keeping with the promise to deliver Personal TV (pTV)(TM), Concurrent will be demonstrating two of the newest, most compelling new applications - targeted and interactive advertising. These revolutionary new services promise to fundamentally change advertising as we know it today and improve the subscriber's interactive viewing experience.

With targeted advertising, neighbors watching the same TV program could see entirely different advertisements based upon demographic information stored in their respective set-top boxes. Targeted advertising promises to optimize the viewing experience for the consumer and give advertising companies and cable operators greater control over revenue generation and cash flow.

Another future offering Concurrent will be demonstrating is interactive advertising. This technology will enable a viewer to have an interactive session with a commercial, simply by pushing a button on the remote control.

Simply put, server-based interactive and targeted advertising can be offered as incremental digital interactive services translating into new revenue generation for MSOs from advertisers, a competitive differentiator from Digital Broadcast Satellite services, and a means to see a return on the investments in their digital networks. Concurrent is working with several technology partners like Everstream, Navic Networks and Rainbow Media to develop these new services - and will provide a taste of what's to come in a demonstration at our Cable 2002 show booth.
